October, Celebrating Cider
Fall is apple season in the Catskills! Hard cider is one of our favorite ways to enjoy them! Come along with us to experience the whole process from tree, to press to glass! This special tour is only available in October.
Available Saturday Oct 5th, 12th, 26th
cider orchard
We’ll take a walk around David’s boutique apple orchard, stocked full of apple varietals purpose-built for making the best cider. We’ll learn about varieties from Spain, France, England and right here in the Catskills. Learn what kinds of apples make for great cider and taste what’s ripe!
1870’s Cider press
Making cider is a tradition here in the Catkills and Burr will give us a tour of his family’s 3 story tall, working 1870s apple cider press. Every year in October only the press is in full operation turning raw apples into cider, this is a special and unique experience to behold! Finish with a sample of the family’s personal stash of cider!
Cider tasting and local lunch
We’ll enjoy a lunch sampling lots of local products. Enjoy a cheese, meat, veggie and other local delicacies board at an incredible local cider house. Paired with the meal, we’ll sample one of our favorite local cider makers offerings for the season. We can also acommodate dietary restrictions and allergies.
cheese
It’s not cider, but how can you resist a chance to see how cheese is made and enjoy some local samples. We’ll meet the animals and learn direct from the farmer about their process.
history
Along the way, Kevin and Lindsay will share the rich local history of the Catskills region and lots of information about food, cider and great spots to explore in the area.
